*MELODY*

A bit about me

Growing up, there was always a cat around - Puss was the first, she had wondered up to the house one day when my eldest brother was just a toddler and she decided to adopt him. I didn't get /my/ first cat until i was around 7. I remember Mum taking me to a house and in the lounge room there was four fluffy kittens and one of them stood out amongst his sisters and brother because he was white as snow. I named him Snowflake.
Sadly, Snowflake got hit by a car when her was only 4, i will always remember that night. I made the toughest call to Nan a 10 year old could make and told her my little kitty had died.

I had always desperately wanted a dog, a thing that seemed to only get stronger after Snow passed. I was at Nan and Pops house after school one day, in the backyard playing when Mum came out the backdoor followed by my brother who was clutching onto this small black thing. He bent down and my eyes went strait to the little puppy. The black thing ran right toward me and burrowed its head between my knees. I picked him up, he had the brightest blue eyes and I decided his name was going to be Brody Blue Eyes.

We spent a lot of years together, tons of memories, he was my best friend. He put up with a lot, my entire secondary + high school years, moving house a few times, welcoming in new animals. He was there for me when we said goodbye to Poppa, when Mum got cancer for the second time, when I got Grayson and then Norah. He shared a good portion of my childhood, teenage years and crazy figure-it-out young adult years. Brody was my whole heart and he will forever have a place in it. He showed me what the love of a dog was.

I made the hardest decision of my life when I was 26 - Brody was going down hill pretty fast (15) and I didnt want him to suffer anymore than he already was, couldn't let him suffer anymore. Mum came with me to the vets and we said goodbye.
I made that second toughest call to Nan with the news that my baby boy had crossed the rainbow bridge.

Everything i do for the breed, every puppy i help raise and all the learning and growing i constantly do has a bit of Brody in it. He did a darn good job at helping me figure out how to raise Grayson and he still had enough grace and love left in him to help me with Norah. He was not a Dally, far from it, Just a regular ol' country Kelpie mix with a heart of gold. He will always be the true foundation of my breeding and my incredible love of dogs

And I still have a cat hanging around - always will. Adam doesn't have fur and is more of a dog but he passes :P

What is your story?

Iv always had a love for Dalmatian’s, the elusive Disney dog breed that I never saw except on the TV screen. I had a stuffed toy that barked (Sam), one that did flips and a set of finger puppets my parents brought back from a holiday. I even had an imaginary Dalmatian named Spot that disappeared whenever I pressed the magical spot on his back. Thus his name ;)
And so I grew up with an immense love of a breed that I never once saw in real life.
When I moved into my own place and realised i could actually get a Dalmatian, it was like realising i could own a dragon. They had always had a mythical sense to them, you never saw them in the street, so my mind just put them in that category. I researched everything I could about the breed and laughed when i found  that a Dalmatian was actually a pretty good match for me. The breed was like a Melody in dog form. They were known as the clowns of the dog world, got distracted by shiny things and had a heart for family.

A couple months later, Grayson arrived and it was one of the best days. He quickly took a hold of my heart and I remember sitting on my bed one night with him taking up 3/4 of it and knowing that I had to do my part in taking care of his family. His Breed.

Why do you breed?

When I first decided to become a breeder it was because I wanted to give people the chance to experience the same joy that Grayson gave to me everyday.
The same joy I still receive, only it now comes from four.
  • I breed to continually improve my breed, to make sure that every single pup that leaves my care is bred from parents with excellent temperaments true to a Dalmatian. That those two parents have been carefully and thoughtfully selected so that they compliment each other to best reflect the Dalmatian standard.
  • I breed for the health and future of the dalmatian
  • I breed to give people the opportunity to experience the love of a Dalmatian, to know what it is like to be owned by one.
  • I breed to protect these gorgeous dogs
  • And I breed to make the world a happier place one pup at a time because Dalmatians just ooze joy wherever they go.
